Privacy Policy

1. Overview

F-Type AI Mechanic (“we”, “our”, or “the Service”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information is collected when you use the Service, how it is used, and your rights in relation to it. We have designed the Service to minimise data collection wherever possible.

2. Information We Collect

2a. Vehicle Preference Settings

When you configure your vehicle profile (model year, engine, trim, and body style), this information is stored exclusively in your browser's localStorage. It never leaves your device unless you send a message that includes it. No account or login is required, and we do not store your vehicle preferences on any server.

2b. Chat Messages

When you submit a question, your message — along with your configured vehicle context — is sent to our server API solely to generate an AI response. We do not permanently store the content of your chat conversations. Messages are processed transiently and discarded after the response is returned to your browser.

2c. Usage and Diagnostic Data

We may collect anonymised, aggregated data about how the Service is used (e.g. page load times, API error rates) to maintain and improve reliability. This data cannot be used to identify individual users.

3. Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect, store, or process any of the following:

  • Your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information
  • Account credentials (there are no user accounts)
  • Payment information
  • Your vehicle's VIN or registration number
  • Precise geolocation data

4. Third-Party AI Processing

Your chat queries are processed by third-party AI APIs to generate responses. When a message is sent, its content is transmitted to these providers solely for inference purposes. These providers operate under their own data retention and privacy policies. We do not send any personal information beyond the text of your query and vehicle context.

We encourage you to avoid including sensitive personal details (e.g. your full name, address, or financial information) in chat messages.

5. Local Storage

The Service uses your browser's localStorage to persist your vehicle settings between visits. This data is stored entirely on your device. You can clear it at any time through your browser settings or by resetting the vehicle profile within the app. We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise share your information with third parties for marketing purposes. Data is only shared with infrastructure providers (e.g. hosting and AI API services) to the minimum extent necessary to operate the Service.

7. Data Security

All communication between your browser and our servers is encrypted via HTTPS. We implement reasonable technical measures to protect data in transit. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has used the Service in a way that raises a privacy concern, please contact us.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by a revised “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
